We support and advise. Together with strategic partners and collaborators, we support research to identify knowledge gaps and actions, and bring our regional perspective, expertise and information to action planning that furthers AHSBR’s strategic priorities.

+ 2.1 Research and Monitoring

We develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with academic institutions and various sector organizations to further research and monitoring for the region. We make connections, help bridge partnerships and work to identify and fill important knowledge gaps. On Track, more potential

+ 2.2 Decision Making Tools

HSBRIS supports the maintenance of information/data and use of centralized online tools such as the Marine Reference Guide that improves aquatic ecosystem health in Átl’ka7tsem/Howe Sound. As applicable, key tools will be available through our AHSBR Resource Hub (see below). On Track, see Terrestrial Atlas

+ 2.3 Strategic Communication

We maintain relationships and contacts with authoritative bodies that have signed/endorsed the AHSBR nomination and keep them informed and engaged through quarterly updates, invitations to participate in forums and workshops, and acting as a representative body for the region with centralized resources. In progress, needs attention due to turnover

+ 2.4 Advising

We bring our regional lens and expertise to our participation in the committees that further the strategic priorities for AHSBR (these will evolve over time and need to be balanced across all three objectives). For example:

  • Ocean Watch Action Committee and Ocean Watch Task Force.
  • Marine Reference Guide Steering Committee.
  • Tourism / Destination BC Development Council.
  • Sea to Sky Fire & Ice Geopark Initiative On Track
