Howe Sound Sustainable Development Forum: Summary Report
Howe Sound Sustainable Development Goals Forum took place September 28th, 2018 at the Gleneagles Golf Club House in West Vancouver. Lively dialogue among the 90 attendees that included elected and campaigning municipal candidates, industry representatives, Squamish Nation members and NGO’s. Speakers from Squamish River Watershed Society, District of Squamish, District of West Vancouver, Coast Ocean Research Institute, Town of Gibsons, Squamish Nation, Islands Trust, and Helping Hands Squamish gave examples of how their organizations contribute. Questions were explored on what local leadership is needed to advance SDGs in the region.
A report produced by British Columbia Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC) provides an account and an overview of the presentations, discussions and conclusions that were presented throughout the forum. The Howe Sound Sustainable Development Forum was hosted in collaboration by Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative (HSBRI) and the British Columbia Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC).
The forum was used as an opportunity to discuss leadership on sustainable development in the Howe Sound through the lens of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
